Why a slivered almond delivers more flavor than a whole one — the surface-area science, the zero-waste sourcing story, and why almonds deserve S-Tier status.

Almonds have an image problem. Well, whole almonds do.

They've sat in the health food aisle for decades like an overdue homework assignment. You eat them because you should, not because you want to. Growing up, almonds were always the last survivors in my trail mix — the dry, woody speedbumps standing between me and the M&Ms. I hated them.
